Do not buy FTM from MacKiev they do not support there products. I bought a FTM 2019 download and CD plus the spiral binding companion guide back in Feb 2020. I downloaded the software from the link they provided. Was told the companion guide would be here in April I assumed the CD would come with the companion guide. They never came was told they did not know when they would get the companion guide. I was not worried. I had a copy of the software on my computer from the downloaded link. Then I forgot they never sent the CD.

My compute crashed and I needed to download the FTM again on my computer. I could not find the disk. I found 2014 disk but it would not sync with Ancestry. That was when I realized that they never sent the 2019 CD. I have ask them to send me the disk.

Hi Keith, great article thanks. You have convinced me that I need to upgrade from my old FTM 11.0 which currently runs on a Windows 10 laptop. I want to be able to use FTM 2019, on a newly purchased iMac as well as said laptop, so as well as the software download, I also need a Family license which I believe covers cover up to 3 machines (and can be a mix of Windows and Mac kit). What is unclear from my reading of the MacKiev website is whether the download needs to see an older version on each machine or whether it is in fact a full new implementation of the product. Thanks in anticipation.

Duncan, you do not need an older version of FTM on each machine. Each download contains a full installation, which does not check for a prior installation. That said, you should be able to import your FTM 11 tree(s) into FTM 2019. Once you import them on your Windows laptop, you can then transfer the tree files to your iMac. I think you will find a lot of useful new features in FTM 2019.

OpenMediaVault is a Debian based special purpose Linux Distribution to build a Network Attached Storage (NAS) System. It provides an easy to use web-based interface, Multilanguage support, Volume Management, Monitoring and a plugin system to extend it with LDAP, Bittorrent, and iSCSI capabilities. The document refenced specifically stated certain top level domains like .local are reserved so they will not be used on the internet for just this kind of purpose when you are using it on your local network so it would be unlikley to interfere with your communication on your local network to a real internet domain of the same name IF it actually existed. So the example in the instructions is a valid use of .local and most people should know when they see that, if in their case a different domain should be used, change to fit the situation. So if that list of top level names are reservered for no one to use on the internet, how can Apple reserve the name?By: Dhiman Reply Very useful steps. I installed OMV on my laptop. But The files can only be accessible by android apps or windows file explorer. Is there any way to access them using browser interface, like what we can do in case of synology or qnap products? Is there any free os to do so?By: FieldWolf Reply No, there is no way to access your files over the browser interface.By: TheBulgarian Reply -Plugin-Developers/openmediavault-extplorereXtplorer is a web-based File Manager.
